Education: Some high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification
Experience: 3 - 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Major Work Area: Repair, Overhaul, Maintenance, Service
Type of Equipment Repair: Heavy construction equipment, Forklifts
Diesel Engine Repair Specialization: Fuel
injection systems, Exhaust systems, Cooling systems, Lubrication
systems, Engine control systems, Major internal engine repairs or
overhaul
Mechanical Repair Specialization: Drive
trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Vehicle brake
systems, Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, Off-road
vehicle tires and wheels
Powered Equipment Repair Specialization: Cable-operated working attachments, Hydraulic-operated working attachments, Pumps, Electric generators
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Specific Skills: Troubleshoot
and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, Determine
extent of repair required, Adjust equipment and repair or replace
defective parts, Test repaired equipment for proper performance, Clean,
lubricate and perform other maintenance work
Additional Skills: Keep maintenance reports and documentation
Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)
Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail
Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
Essential Skills: Reading

Other Information: Ability
to read & understand electric & hydraulic schematics.
Experience with D.C. Electrical & Hydraulics Systems an asset.
