Bus mechanic

Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification, 3rd Period Apprentice, Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement, Driver’s Licence (Class 2 or B or C), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, WHMIS Certificate
Experience: 3 - 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Type of Experience: Trucks, Buses
Area of Specialization: Front-end components, Engine repair, Electrical and electronic systems, Diesel engines, Diagnostics, Alignment, steering and suspension, Brake systems, Hydraulic systems, Fuel and emission systems, Ignition and electrical systems, Automatic transmission, Standard transmission, AC, cooling and heating systems, Engine repair and overhaul, Drive train components, Welding, Machining
Truck Mechanic Specific Skills: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems, Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems, Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications, Perform scheduled maintenance service
Additional Skills: Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor, Complete reports to record problems and work performed, Coach and instruct apprentices
Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)
Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Hand-eye co-ordination
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence
