  Skill Requirements:
   
Education: Completion of high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Steamfitter – Pipefitter Trade Certification, 4th Period Apprentice
Experience: 3 – 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Major Work Area: Construction
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Industrial
Area of Steamfitting and Pipefitting Specialization: Pneumatic systems, Industrial processing systems
Pipefitting / Steamfitting Testing Methods: Hydrostatic
Type of Piping: Black carbon or steel
Specific Skills: Determine layout requirements, Select type and size of pipe, Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size, Weld, braze, cement or solder pipes and joints, Test system for leaks, Remove and replace defective components, Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping and sprinkling systems, Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment, Operate power lifts, Troubleshoot systems
Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Liaise with management, engineers and other trades
